I am a business owner based in Chicago and have spent the past few years traveling globally while live day trading futures on YouTube.
How I Became Profitable
I did not start as a profitable trader. For about two years straight, I lost money. Not because I lacked setups, but because my position sizing and risk control were bad.
The turning point was simple: I stopped swinging size and started treating trading like a business. Risk first. Size second. Entries last. Prop firms helped reinforce that discipline because the rules punish bad habits immediately.
The changes that actually mattered
- Managed size: I sized down until I could execute consistently.
- Protected drawdown: I treated drawdown like inventory I could not waste.
- Learned payout and consistency rules: I stopped getting surprised by basic requirements.
- Traded process: I stopped chasing dopamine and started stacking repeatable days.
