Futures Market Sentiment Today: NQ & ES Trader Poll
Next card opens Sunday, Oct 25 at 12:00 PM ET in the DGT Discord and locks at 6:00 PM ET.
The first read lands at the 9:30 AM ET open
Every trading day, traders in the DGT Discord call NQ and ES before the cash open. The split is published here the moment voting locks, and every call is graded after the close.
How often the room gets it right
"Right" means the room's lean landed on the same side as the session: up, flat (chop) or down. With three possible outcomes, a random pick is right about one time in three.
How the DGT Sentiment Index works
- Who votes: traders in the DGT Discord, the Damn Prop Firms community of futures prop firm traders. One call per trader per market, changeable until the lock.
- When: the card opens at 4:00 AM ET on every NYSE trading day and locks at the 9:30 AM ET cash open. The split stays hidden until the lock, so nobody sees the room before making a call.
- The scale: strong bear (−2), bear (−1), chop (0), bull (+1), strong bull (+2), for NQ and ES separately. Traders can also sit a session out.
- The index: the average call rescaled to 0–100. 0 means every trader called strong bear, 50 is neutral, 100 means every trader called strong bull. Roughly 60 and up reads bullish, 80 and up strongly bullish; 40 and below bearish, 20 and below strongly bearish.
- Grading: the cash session from 9:30 AM to the 4:00 PM ET close (1:00 PM on early-close days), using the QQQ and SPY open-to-close moves as stand-ins for NQ and ES. NQ counts as chop inside ±0.25% and strong from ±1%; ES inside ±0.2% and from ±0.75%.
- Room right: the room's lean (bullish, neutral or bearish) matched the side the session finished on.
- Sunday open: a separate card calls the 6:00 PM ET Globex reopen against Friday's close, graded by a moderator.
- Limits: a self-selected group of active traders, not a scientific survey; quiet days have small samples. Read it as what traders believed, not as a forecast.
Market sentiment FAQ
Is the market bullish or bearish today?
This page answers that every trading day at 9:30 AM ET: futures traders in the DGT Discord call NQ and ES before the open, and the split is published the moment voting locks.
What is market sentiment?
Market sentiment is the overall mood of traders toward a market: whether most of them expect prices to rise (bullish), fall (bearish) or go nowhere. It is usually estimated from surveys, positioning or indicators. This index asks directly: traders commit to a call on NQ and ES before the cash open, and every call is checked against what the market actually did.
How accurate is crowd sentiment for NQ and ES?
Every call is graded after the close, and the room's hit rate appears on this page once sessions have been graded. With three possible outcomes (up, chop, down), a random pick is right about one time in three, which is the bar to beat.
How is the DGT Sentiment Index calculated?
Each call is scored from −2 (strong bear) to +2 (strong bull). The index is the average of every call on that market, rescaled to 0–100: 0 means every trader called strong bear, 50 is neutral and 100 means every trader called strong bull.
How is this different from the AAII Sentiment Survey or the Fear & Greed Index?
The AAII Sentiment Survey asks individual investors once a week where they expect stocks to be in six months. CNN's Fear & Greed Index blends seven market indicators such as momentum, volatility and put/call ratios. The DGT index is a daily call by active futures traders on a single session, made before the open and graded against the close, so it measures short-term trader conviction and how often it pays.
Can I add my call?
Yes. Join the DGT Discord: the card opens at 4:00 AM ET on trading days and locks at 9:30 AM ET. One tap per market, changeable until the lock, and every call is graded, so you build a track record. Type /pulse public in the server to show your name on the leaderboard here.
Think you can read the open better than the room?
Every call is graded and ranked. Join the DGT Discord, tap your bias on NQ and ES before 9:30 AM ET, and see how you stack up against the best callers in the server.
Sentiment from a self-selected group of traders in the DGT Discord. It is not a forecast and not investment advice; futures trading carries a substantial risk of loss.
