Breakout Prop is a Kraken-owned prop firm for perpetual futures. You pay a one-time fee, pass a single-step evaluation on simulated capital, then keep 80% (or 90%) of what you make on up to $200,000, paid in USDC whenever you ask for it. It’s known as a crypto prop firm, and it now also lists Nasdaq-100-style, S&P 500, crude oil and silver perps.
Straight up: I haven’t traded Breakout yet, evaluation or funded. Every number on this page comes from Breakout’s own pricing page, Symbols list, help center and Terms of Use, plus Kraken’s pages and press releases, and Trustpilot for the rating, all read on October 23, 2026. When I trade it, my own results go on this page.
- Accounts: $5K to $200K across three 1-Step evaluations: Classic ($5K–$100K), Pro and Turbo ($5K–$200K).
- Price: $20 to $1.09K, one time. The 90/10 split upgrade adds 20%.
- Rules: 3% max daily loss (reset at 00:30 UTC), 3–6% static max drawdown, no consistency rule, no minimum days, no time limit.
- Payouts: on demand, 24/7, in USDC on Ethereum; $50 minimum after the split, approved within 12–24 hours, no profit cap.
- Markets: 71 symbols on the Classic/Pro/Turbo list, 67 crypto perps plus XYZ100, S&P500, crude oil and silver; up to 10x leverage.
- Who can join: 23 countries plus three Ukrainian regions are barred. The US is not on the list.
- Discount: code DGT takes 5% off at checkout.
Breakout Prop Firm Review: Who It’s For and Who It’s Not
- Best for: crypto traders who want simple rules (two loss limits, no consistency rule, no minimum days) and payouts any day of the week.
- Not for: anyone who trades someone else’s signals or a Discord’s calls (banned), anyone who needs CME futures on a regulated US venue, and anyone who wants a bank wire instead of USDC.
- The three best things: Kraken ownership; a static drawdown on every 1-Step account that never trails; USDC payouts on demand, 24/7, with no profit cap.
- The three biggest risks: simulated capital with a counterparty not registered with any US regulator; a 3% daily loss limit on every 1-Step plan (and only 3% total drawdown on Turbo); no resets, so one breach ends the account.
- Bottom line: one of the shortest rulebooks in crypto prop, with Kraken as the owner. Pick the plan for your drawdown, not the cheapest fee.
Is Breakout Prop Legit? Who Owns It
Breakout announced its launch on November 29, 2023, founded by crypto traders Alex Miningham and Dylan Loomer (“TraderMayne”) with CryptoCred and Abetrade on the founding team. Kraken bought it: the acquisition took effect on September 1, 2025 and was announced on September 4, 2025. Kraken’s parent company is Payward, Inc.
Two companies sit behind the product, and you deal with both:
- Evaluations: Breakout Trading Group, LLC, a Delaware company. Its Terms of Use are governed by Florida law.
- Funded accounts: Payward Oceanic Ltd. (“POL”), a British Virgin Islands company in the Kraken group. You sign a separate Funded Trader Agreement with POL after you pass.
Breakout says it has paid out $80M+ since launch and serves 160+ countries. Trustpilot showed 4.7 from 1,226 reviews on October 23, 2026, and Breakout publishes the Breakout Prop leaderboard, ranked by lifetime payouts and updated monthly.
Know what “legit” covers here. Funded accounts run on simulated capital. Breakout’s help center says neither Breakout Trading Group nor its funded-account company is registered with the SEC, the CFTC or any other US financial regulator, and payouts aren’t insured. Breakout’s own disclosure says most applicants fail their first attempt and that it earns when traders fail and buy again. That’s the prop model everywhere; Breakout just prints it.
Breakout Prop Pricing: 1-Step Classic vs Pro vs Turbo
Each evaluation is a one-time fee with no subscription. The three products trade fee for room: Classic costs the most and gives you the most room, Turbo is the cheapest with the least.
| Account | 1-Step Classic | 1-Step Pro | 1-Step Turbo |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5K | $45 $43 with DGT |
$33 $31 with DGT |
$20 $19 with DGT |
| $10K | $85 $81 with DGT |
$65 $62 with DGT |
$40 $38 with DGT |
| $25K | $215 $204 with DGT |
$150 $143 with DGT |
$95 $90 with DGT |
| $50K | $400 $380 with DGT |
$280 $266 with DGT |
$180 $171 with DGT |
| $100K | $800 $760 with DGT |
$545 $518 with DGT |
$330 $314 with DGT |
| $200K | Not offered | $1.09K $1K with DGT |
$660 $627 with DGT |
| Rule | Classic | Pro | Turbo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profit target | 10% | 12% | 9% |
| Max daily loss | 3% | 3% | 3% |
| Max drawdown (static) | 6% | 5% | 3% |
| $50K example | $5,000 target, $3,000 drawdown | $6,000 target, $2,500 drawdown | $4,500 target, $1,500 drawdown |
| Sizes | $5K–$100K | $5K–$200K | $5K–$200K |
| Max leverage | 10x | 10x | 10x |
The 90/10 split is a checkout upgrade that adds 20% to the fee (the $50K Classic goes from $400 to $480), and it stays for the life of that account. Without it, every account pays 80/20.
Run the ratio before you buy. On Classic you need 10% with 6% of room, so the target is 1.7x your drawdown. Pro asks for 2.4x and Turbo for 3x. Turbo’s 3% total drawdown is also the same size as its 3% daily limit, so one bad day can end it. Cheapest fee, least margin for error.
Breakout Prop Rules: Daily Loss, Drawdown and What’s Banned
Max daily loss: 3%, reset at 00:30 UTC
Every 1-Step plan uses 3% of your balance, with open positions excluded, taken at 00:30 UTC. That floor holds for the next 24 hours: Breakout’s own example is a $105,000 balance at 00:30 UTC giving a $101,850 floor. The breach is judged on equity, so if your open P&L touches the floor intraday, you’re out, even if the trade would have come back.
Max drawdown: static, set on day one
Classic 6%, Pro 5% and Turbo 3% of the starting balance, in the evaluation and again in the funded account. It never trails up behind your profits. On a $50K Classic, the floor is $47,000 for the life of the account.
What you don’t have to worry about
- No consistency rule. Your best day can be 10x your average day.
- No minimum trading days. The account upgrades the moment you hit the target, even with positions still open, so one trade can pass it.
- No time limit.
- No news restrictions: Breakout names NFP, FOMC, CPI, earnings and crypto-specific catalysts.
- Hold overnight, over weekends and over holidays. Crypto runs 24/7 and so does the account.
- Hedging inside one account is allowed; Hedge Mode is on by default.
What gets you banned
- Hedging across accounts, or against another trader.
- Copying trades between different traders’ accounts, and executing trade ideas copied from a third party: signals, communities, social media or research reports.
- “Sharing account access, or trading multiple accounts from the same household, device, or IP address.” Breakout does let one trader hold several accounts, so check with support before running more than one from one device.
- Passing with one approach and switching to another once funded.
- Exploiting pricing errors or latency, or using an off-the-shelf “pass your evaluation” service.
Read the signals rule twice if you trade in a Discord. The penalty for cross-account hedging is termination of every linked account, forfeited profits and a permanent ban; a first, inadvertent violation may get a warning instead.
No resets
Hit either limit and every position is closed and the account is forfeited. You owe nothing more, and there’s no reset: you buy a new evaluation. Evaluation fees are non-refundable; the one exception Breakout lists is a rejected KYC check, which refunds your active evaluations.
Breakout Prop Leverage and Markets: 71 Symbols, Crypto Plus Index Perps
Breakout’s Symbols page listed 71 instruments for Classic, Pro and Turbo on October 23, 2026: 67 crypto perps and four non-crypto perps, XYZ100 (a Nasdaq-100-style index), S&P500, crude oil (CL) and silver. Leverage is set per symbol and applied automatically.
| Leverage | Symbols | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| 10x | 3 | BTC, XYZ100, S&P500 |
| 5x | 29 | ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE, LINK, crude oil, silver |
| 3x | 11 | HYPE, PEPE, ENA, NEAR |
| 2x | 28 | WIF, BONK, TIA and other small caps |
- Max position: $1,000,000 notional on BTC and ETH, $500,000 on SOL, $300,000 on XRP; $2,000,000 on S&P500, $1,000,000 on XYZ100, $200,000 on crude oil and silver.
- Fees: 0.04% per side on notional, taken from your simulated balance, plus financing of 0.033% per day on open positions, charged every 4 hours on the Breakout Terminal.
- Index and commodity perps: priced from Hyperliquid and tradable 24/7. Outside the underlying market’s hours Breakout uses a protected pricing model and spreads can widen. XYZ100 and S&P500 are sized for comparison with NQ and ES, but it isn’t CME execution.
- Liquidity: for crypto, Breakout says liquidity is sourced from tier 1 centralized exchanges.
Breakout Prop Payout Rules: How Payouts Work
- Pass. Hit the target and the evaluation passes instantly, even with positions open.
- Verify. The funded account activates after KYC with SumSub (government photo ID, a selfie and proof of address if asked) and the Funded Trader Agreement with POL. Approval takes 12–24 hours.
- Trade funded. The same daily loss and drawdown limits apply.
- Request a payout any time, weekdays or weekends, as long as you have no open positions. The minimum is $50 after the split. Approval takes 12–24 hours, “usually much quicker,” and the USDC goes to your wallet on Ethereum (ERC-20). That’s the only payout method.
You keep 80% of profits, or 90% with the checkout upgrade, and there’s no profit cap. A payout comes off the balance immediately, and your daily loss limit widens by the payout amount until the next 00:30 UTC reset. You can run several evaluations and funded accounts at once, up to $200,000 of funded capital combined.
The fine print: the USDC amount isn’t adjusted for price moves, payouts aren’t insured by anyone, and taxes are on you.
Breakout Terminal, App and Dashboard
New accounts trade on the Breakout Terminal, Breakout’s own platform, on the web and in the iOS and Android apps, with TradingView charts. You open it from the Breakout Dashboard at portal.breakoutprop.com, where you also watch your limits in real time and request payouts. DXTrade isn’t sold for new accounts anymore; existing DXTrade accounts keep trading and getting paid, and they can’t be migrated.
Breakout doesn’t document API trading anywhere, and Kraken’s version of the same program says API trading isn’t supported. Plan on placing orders by hand. Breakout also offers free trading tools and a free trading course.
Spark: Breakout’s $50K Evaluation With 40x Index Leverage
Spark is a separate evaluation, sold only at $50,000, and the first release is capped at 1,500 accounts. It runs on its own rules:
- Target: $3,000.
- Loss limit: $1,500 trailing, measured from your highest closed-balance high-water mark, recalculated at the 00:30 UTC reset and enforced on equity. It keeps trailing for the life of the account, funded included.
- No daily loss limit, no minimum days, no consistency rule.
- Leverage: up to 40x on XYZ100 and S&P500 (up to $2,000,000 notional per trader) and 20x on crude oil and silver.
- Split: 80/20, with the 90/10 upgrade at checkout and no activation fee.
Spark isn’t on Breakout’s public pricing page, so I’m not quoting a fee; you’ll see it at checkout. The catch is that trailing limit: unlike the 1-Step plans, Spark’s floor follows your closed balance up and never locks.
Can US Traders Use Breakout Prop?
The US isn’t on Breakout’s ineligible list, and its Terms of Use bar sanctioned persons and jurisdictions. No Breakout page says outright that US residents are eligible, but nothing excludes them. These are barred: Afghanistan, Belarus, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, the Central African Republic, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nicaragua, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Zimbabwe, plus the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. Breakout says the list can change.
- No KYC to buy. You verify only when you pass, before funded trading and payouts.
- VPNs are allowed as long as they don’t hide where you live; do KYC with the VPN off.
- Age: 18+.
- Regulation: Breakout’s help center says neither Breakout Trading Group nor its funded-account company is registered with any US financial regulator.
Breakout Prop and Kraken: Breakout vs Kraken Prop vs Kraken Funded
Kraken now sells prop trading three ways, and all three fund through the same company, POL:
| Feature | Breakout | Kraken Prop | Kraken Funded |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where | breakoutprop.com, Breakout Terminal (web and mobile) | Inside Kraken Pro | Kraken App only |
| Plans | 1-Step Classic, Pro, Turbo | Starter, Intermediate, Advanced: the same targets, limits and fees as Classic, Pro and Turbo | $1K, $5K and $10K challenges |
| Fees | $20–$1.09K | $20–$1,090 (October 23, 2026) | $20, $50, $90 |
| Rules | 9–12% target, 3% daily, 3–6% static | Same as Breakout | 12% target, 3% fixed max loss |
| Leverage | Up to 10x by symbol | Up to 5x | Not stated |
| Markets | 71 symbols incl. index, oil and silver perps | 60+ crypto pairs | 50+ cryptos and select stocks |
| Payouts | USDC (ERC-20) to your wallet, 24/7 | To your Kraken account, typically within 24 hours | USD to your Kraken balance |
| Split | 80%, or 90% with the upgrade | 80–90% | 80% |
If you already live on Kraken and want payouts landing in your Kraken account, Kraken Prop is the same evaluation in a different wrapper. If you want 10x leverage, the index and commodity perps, the public leaderboard and USDC to your own wallet, take Breakout, and use code DGT at Breakout’s checkout.
Breakout vs Vest Markets (and CME Futures Firms)
The other perp firm on this site is Vest Markets, the one I trade and have been paid by.
| Feature | Breakout | Vest Markets |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Kraken (Payward) | Vest Exchange Inc. (Panama) |
| Programs | 1-Step Classic, Pro, Turbo; Spark | 1-Step, 2-Step, Instant |
| Largest account | $200K | $50K |
| Max drawdown | 3–6% static (Spark: $1,500 trailing) | 6% static |
| Instant funding | No | Yes, 95% split |
| Payouts | USDC, on demand, $50 minimum | USDC, on demand, within 24 hours |
| Markets | Crypto perps, plus index, oil and silver perps | ES, NQ, stocks, crypto, FX and commodity perps |
Short version: Vest for ES and NQ traders and anyone who wants instant funding; Breakout for crypto-first traders who want Kraken behind the counterparty and up to $200K.
Torn between Breakout and Tradeify? They don’t trade the same thing. Tradeify is a CME futures prop firm with daily payouts and no consistency rule on funded accounts. Breakout is crypto-first perps paid in USDC. If your edge is in CME futures, start with the futures prop firms; if it’s in crypto, stay here and compare the perpetual futures prop firms.
Where Breakout’s Own Pages Disagree
- Market count: the pricing page says 63 markets; the Symbols page listed 71 for Classic, Pro and Turbo (and 62 for Spark) on October 23, 2026.
- Leverage: Breakout says up to 10x; Kraken’s page for the same three plans says up to 5x.
- Funded company name: Payward Oceanic Ltd. on breakoutprop.com, kraken.com and most of the help center; “NFA Trading Ltd.” in the help center’s regulatory-risk article.
- Account cap: Kraken’s September 2025 announcement capped each funded account at $100,000; Pro and Turbo now sell $200K accounts, and the help center caps combined funded capital at $200,000.
- 2-Step: older help-center and app-store copy still describes a 2-Step with an 8% trailing drawdown. The 2-Step isn’t sold anymore, and the current help center gives existing 2-Step accounts a 6% static drawdown.
Breakout says your current limits are always shown on your dashboard. Check them the day you buy.
Breakout Prop Discount Code: DGT
Code DGT takes 5% off any Classic, Pro or Turbo account, $5K to $200K. Breakout’s help center describes the referral discount as 5% off your first order. Every DGT price is in the pricing table above.
Type it in the code box at checkout. Breakout credits referrals by code only, so the discount applies only when DGT is in that box, even if you came through my link.
Final Verdict: Which Breakout Account Should You Buy?
- Most traders: 1-Step Classic. The most room (6%) for a 10% target.
- Size seekers who manage risk tightly: 1-Step Pro. Goes to $200K with 5% of room.
- Fast scalpers who cut losers instantly: 1-Step Turbo. The cheapest fee, and a 3% drawdown that leaves no room for a bad day.
- Index traders who can live with a trailing limit: Spark, for 40x on XYZ100 and S&P500.
Breakout keeps its rulebook short and has Kraken behind it. The trade-offs are the 3% daily limit, no resets and a counterparty with no US regulator behind it. I’ll update this page with my own results once I’ve traded it.
Breakout Prop FAQ
Is Breakout Prop a scam?
There’s no sign of it. Breakout announced its launch in November 2023 and Kraken acquired it effective September 1, 2025; funded accounts are run by Payward Oceanic Ltd., a Kraken-group company. Breakout says it has paid $80M+ to traders, and Trustpilot showed 4.7 from 1,226 reviews on October 23, 2026. Accounts are simulated, and Breakout’s help center says neither company is registered with a US financial regulator.
Who owns Breakout Prop?
Kraken. Kraken’s parent, Payward, completed the acquisition effective September 1, 2025. Evaluations are sold by Breakout Trading Group, LLC (Delaware); funded accounts run through Payward Oceanic Ltd. (British Virgin Islands).
How much does a Breakout evaluation cost?
From $20 for a $5K Turbo to $1.09K for a $200K Pro, one time. A $50K costs $400 (Classic), $280 (Pro) or $180 (Turbo) before code DGT. The 90/10 split upgrade adds 20%.
What is the difference between Breakout Classic, Pro and Turbo?
Target and drawdown. Classic: 10% target, 6% static drawdown, up to $100K. Pro: 12% target, 5% drawdown, up to $200K. Turbo: 9% target, 3% drawdown, up to $200K. All three have a 3% daily loss limit and up to 10x leverage.
Does Breakout have a consistency rule or minimum trading days?
No. There is no consistency rule, no minimum trading days and no time limit on Classic, Pro or Turbo, and Spark has no consistency rule or minimum days either. The evaluation passes the moment you hit the target, even with positions open.
How fast does Breakout pay out?
Request a payout any time, 24/7, with no open positions. Approval takes 12 to 24 hours and is usually quicker; the USDC goes to your wallet on Ethereum (ERC-20). The minimum is $50 after the split.
Is Breakout Prop available to US traders?
The United States is not on Breakout’s ineligible-country list, and its Terms of Use bar sanctioned persons and jurisdictions; no page says outright that US residents are eligible. 23 countries are barred, plus Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk. KYC is required before funded trading.
Can you trade the Nasdaq or S&P 500 on Breakout?
Yes, as perps: XYZ100 (Nasdaq-100 style) and S&P500 at up to 10x on Classic, Pro and Turbo, and up to 40x on Spark. They’re priced from Hyperliquid and trade 24/7. It isn’t CME execution.
Is Breakout the same as Kraken Prop?
Same company behind them, same three plans and fees, different wrapper. Kraken Prop runs inside Kraken Pro, pays to your Kraken account and lists up to 5x leverage; Breakout runs on the Breakout Terminal, pays USDC to your wallet and goes up to 10x.
Can I copy trade or follow signals on a Breakout account?
No. Breakout bans copying trades between different traders’ accounts and executing trade ideas copied from a third party, including signals, communities and social media. Hedging across accounts is banned too.
What happens if I fail a Breakout evaluation?
Your positions are closed and the account is forfeited; you owe nothing more. There is no reset, so you buy a new evaluation. Evaluation fees are non-refundable; the one exception is a rejected KYC check.
Does Breakout Prop offer breach insurance?
A January 2025 help-center article mentioned a “Breach Insurance add-on.” No current Breakout page offers it: the only add-on on the pricing page on October 23, 2026 was the 90/10 split upgrade.
Is there a Breakout Prop discount code?
Yes: DGT, for 5% off at checkout. Breakout’s help center describes the referral discount as 5% off your first order. Type DGT in the code box; Breakout credits referrals by code only.
