Prop Firm Rules 2026: The Complete Guide to Drawdown, Consistency, and Payouts

Prop firm rules decide whether your strategy survives the evaluation, the funded stage, and the path to live capital — or whether you blow an account on a technicality that had nothing to do with your trading. This guide breaks down every rule that matters at the top futures prop firms in 2026, with every detail verified directly from each firm's official help center. No third-party copy-pasting, no stale numbers. Want the firms that publish every one of these rules upfront? Start with the prop firms with no hidden rules.

What are the standard prop firm rules? Every futures prop firm enforces six core rule categories: a trailing drawdown (your maximum loss floor), a daily loss limit, a profit target with minimum trading days, contract and scaling limits, a consistency rule capping your best day, and payout conditions — split, cadence, and caps. The exact numbers vary firm by firm; the tables below compare all of them.

Drawdown Rules: EOD vs Intraday Trailing

Drawdown is the single biggest reason traders blow funded accounts — not strategy, not discipline, just a misunderstanding of how the firm measures your equity floor. The 2026 industry has moved decisively toward End-of-Day (EOD) trailing drawdown, which is materially more forgiving than the older intraday models.

EOD Trailing Drawdown — Now the Industry Default

Your maximum loss limit only updates once per day, at session close, based on your highest closing balance. Intraday equity dips don't move the floor. If you take a $1,500 unrealized drawdown midday but close green, you're fine. Once the EOD floor reaches your starting balance plus $100, it typically locks permanently — meaning accumulated profits become a real cushion.

Firms using EOD trailing across both eval and funded: Topstep (both Combine and Express Funded Account), Alpha Futures (all current plans), FundedNext Flex, Tradeify Select, Lucid Trading (LucidPro, LucidFlex, LucidDirect — the newer LucidDaily runs intraday trailing in funded), Phidias, FundedSeat, TradeDay Fast Pass and Quick Pay EOD, most MyFundedFutures plans, and Apex Trader Funding under the 4.0 rules (EOD is now the default product; the floor updates at 4:59:59 PM ET based on your closing balance). For a deeper read on drawdown mechanics, see drawdown rules for futures prop firms.

Intraday Trailing Drawdown — The Old Standard, Now an Exception

Your max loss limit follows live equity tick by tick, including unrealized profits. The moment your account hits a new equity high — even from an open position — the floor lifts. If price reverses and you give it back, the account can breach instantly. Mean-reversion traders, swing-into-close traders, and event traders get caught by this constantly.

Firms still using intraday (or letting you opt in): Take Profit Trader PRO accounts, MyFundedFutures Rapid sim-funded, Lucid Trading LucidDaily funded (intraday trailing that locks at initial + $100 once past the trail balance), Apex Trader Funding (Intraday variant at purchase), TradeDay Quick Pay Intraday, Purdia Pro Evaluation only, and Bulenox (trader's choice).

Static Drawdown — The Holy Grail

A fixed floor that doesn't move. Once locked at a specific dollar value, it stays there regardless of profit. Purdia's Live Funded Account uses static drawdown at breakeven + $100 — meaning every dollar of profit becomes permanent cushion. Phidias offers a static drawdown option in evaluations too. For the full ranked list, see prop firms without trailing drawdown.

The Drawdown Lock — What Most Traders Miss

Most firms lock the EOD trailing drawdown at starting balance + $100 once you push profits above the threshold. Apex, Alpha Futures, FundedNext, Tradeify, Lucid, and Bulenox all use this pattern (Apex 4.0 calls the maintained floor the Safety Net — drawdown + $100 must be held to stay payout-eligible). Topstep is the odd one out: in the Express Funded Account the MLL locks at $0 permanently after your first payout, because the XFA balance starts at $0 and grows from your trading profits.

Consistency Rules: What They Are and Which Firms Enforce Them

A consistency rule caps the size of your best single day relative to your total profits. The formula every firm uses is the same:

Consistency % = (Largest Winning Day ÷ Total Net Profit) × 100

If the rule is 40% and your best day was $1,200 on $2,500 of total profit, your ratio is 48% — too high. The fix is never punitive: you keep trading smaller winning days until the ratio dilutes back under the threshold. No firm in this guide breaches an account for failing a consistency check. Payouts are simply paused until you comply. Run your own numbers with the consistency calculator.

Where Consistency Rules Apply in 2026

The 2026 pattern is clear: consistency rules mostly live on the evaluation stage or at the payout request. The funded stage itself is increasingly consistency-free. Funded plans with no consistency rule:

  • Take Profit Trader PRO and PRO+
  • Tradeify Select Flex (and Select Daily)
  • TradeDay — both routes (consistency is evaluation-only: 30% Quick Pay, 45% Fast Pass)
  • Alpha Futures Advanced Qualified
  • FundedNext Flex funded account
  • Lucid Trading LucidFlex funded
  • Lucid Trading LucidDaily funded
  • Purdia Capital — every stage
  • Phidias evaluation and Phidias LIVE
  • MyFundedFutures Rapid, Flex, and Pro sim funded
  • Topstep XFA Standard path

Funded Plans That DO Enforce Consistency

  • Apex Trader Funding Performance Account — 50% at payout request (4.0 accounts purchased March 1, 2026 or later; legacy pre-March PAs stay on the old 30% rule)
  • Bulenox Master Account — 40%
  • Lucid Trading LucidPro funded — 40% (raised from 35% on November 28, 2025)
  • Lucid Trading LucidDirect — 20%
  • Topstep XFA Consistency path — 40% (optional; the Standard path has none)
  • Phidias CASH (sim funded) — 30%
  • MyFundedFutures Builder — 50% at payout request (no eval consistency — flipped from the other MFFU plans)
  • Alpha Futures Zero Qualified — 40%
  • Alpha Futures Direct Qualified — 20%
  • FundedSeat 1-Step Daily Ultra — 26% or 35%, chosen at checkout (the 26% option includes a cushion and wider drawdown; the 35% option is cheaper with tighter drawdown)

The rule applies at the point of payout request and resets after each approved payout. For deeper coverage see the consistency rule guide and the consistency & profit target FAQs.

Daily Loss Limits: Hard Breach, Soft Breach, or None

A daily loss limit caps how much you can lose in a single trading session. Three flavors exist in 2026:

  • Hard breach DLL — hitting the DLL closes the account permanently. Rare in modern prop firms.
  • Soft breach DLL — hitting the DLL auto-flattens positions and locks you out for the rest of the day. Account survives, you come back tomorrow. This is the standard now.
  • No DLL — your only constraint is the trailing drawdown. As long as your EOD balance stays above the floor, intraday losses don't matter.

No-DLL Funded Plans

Take Profit Trader PRO, Tradeify Select Flex, Alpha Futures Advanced Qualified, FundedNext Flex, FundedSeat Flex, Lucid Trading LucidFlex, MyFundedFutures Pro and Flex sim funded, Phidias, Bulenox, and Purdia sim funded.

Topstep's DLL is optional in both the Combine and the Express Funded Account, configurable as a Personal DLL with optional trailing. Apex 4.0 includes a DLL on EOD accounts only ($1,000 on a $50K); Intraday accounts have none. MyFundedFutures Rapid has no DLL but Builder carries a $1,000 soft-pause DLL on every stage. Alpha Futures Zero applies its Daily Loss Guard in both the evaluation and Qualified phases; Advanced has no Daily Loss Guard at all.

Profit Targets and Minimum Trading Days

Profit targets at a $50K evaluation cluster around $2,500–$4,000, with most firms landing at $3,000 (6%). Minimum trading days range from 1 day to 10 days (Purdia SFA). Browse the fastest passes at best prop firms with one-day pass or skip the eval entirely at best prop firms with instant funding. The dollar values below pull live from our plan database, so they stay current even when firms change their specs.

Maximum Contracts and Scaling Rules

Contract limits at a $50K evaluation typically allow 3–5 minis (30–50 micros). At funded stage, some firms apply a scaling plan that restricts contracts at lower balances and unlocks them as you build profit.

Firms With Scaling Plans

  • MFFU Flex sim funded: 1 mini at $0–$1,499 balance, 2 minis at $1,500–$1,999, 3 minis at $2,000+.
  • Alpha Futures Zero Qualified: scaling rule applies. Advanced does not — full contracts from day one.
  • Topstep XFA: Scaling Plan replaces the Combine's max position size, tied to balance milestones.
  • Apex Performance Account: contract limits are reduced from the evaluation level and scale back up as the account grows above the Safety Net.

Firms With NO Scaling (Full Contracts From Day One)

  • Take Profit Trader PRO and PRO+
  • Tradeify — all plans (official help center: no scaling restrictions, maximum position size from day one)
  • FundedNext Flex funded
  • Lucid Trading (all three plans)
  • Phidias
  • Alpha Futures Advanced (the trader-friendly outlier in the Alpha lineup)

If you trade size-heavy strategies, scaling rules can be a soft trap — your edge requires full contract count, but the firm's scaling table limits you. Verify before purchase, especially on Topstep XFA and Apex Performance Accounts.

News Trading Restrictions

News trading policy splits prop firms cleanly. Some allow you to trade through FOMC, NFP, and CPI without restriction. Others enforce blackout windows or ban Tier 1 events entirely. For the dedicated rankings, see best prop firms for news trading.

Unrestricted News Trading

Tradeify (all plans — the official help center calls it "free reign," at your own risk), Alpha Futures Advanced Qualified, FundedNext Flex, Lucid Trading (LucidPro, LucidFlex, LucidDirect), Phidias, Purdia, Bulenox.

Restricted News Trading

  • Take Profit Trader PRO and PRO+: no trading on specific major news events. Full list in TPT's FAQ.
  • TradeDay (all accounts, eval and funded): auto-liquidates every open position 2 minutes before Tier 1 economic releases (FOMC, NFP, CPI) and reopens trading 2 minutes after — plus a mandatory flat 10 minutes before the daily close. Accidental breaches aren't failed; abusing the policy loses the account.
  • MyFundedFutures Rapid and Pro sim funded: T1 news (FOMC, NFP, CPI) prohibited — and trading it triggers payout denial. T1 allowed on every evaluation, Flex sim funded, and Builder.
  • Alpha Futures Zero Qualified: no new positions 2 minutes before/after high-impact releases (4 minutes for speeches).
  • Lucid Trading LucidDaily funded: red-folder news is a hard breach — you must be flat from 1 minute before through 1 minute after the release. The other three Lucid plans are unrestricted.
  • Topstep: no published hard news restriction, but the Combine's 50% consistency target structurally penalizes large single-event days.
  • Apex Trader Funding: policy has historically been inconsistent across help-center articles and platforms (Rithmic vs Tradovate vs WealthCharts). Verify before relying on event-driven strategies.

Profit Splits and Payout Policies

The profit split is the headline number, but payout cadence, caps, and processing time matter more for traders living off the income. Deeper detail in the prop firm payouts guide.

Profit Splits Across the Industry

  • 100% to trader (capped per cycle): Apex Trader Funding pays 100% of approved withdrawals within a 6-payout ladder per Performance Account ($500 minimum per request). See the full list at best prop firms with 100% profit split.
  • 100% on first $10K, then 90/10: Bulenox, and Topstep for accounts opened before January 12, 2026.
  • Flat 90/10: Alpha Futures (all plans), Tradeify Select, Lucid (all plans), Topstep post-Jan 12 2026, MFFU Rapid, Purdia LFA, Take Profit Trader PRO+.
  • 80/20: Take Profit Trader PRO, MFFU Pro / Flex / Builder, FundedSeat 1-Step Daily Ultra, Phidias base (Premium scales 75% → 100% across 5 payouts).
  • Add-on splits: FundedNext Flex is 80% base; pay a small add-on at checkout to upgrade to 90%.

Payout Cadence

  • Daily payouts (day-one eligible): Take Profit Trader (PRO and PRO+), Lucid Trading LucidDaily (daily payout requests, minimum $500), TradeDay Quick Pay (eligible after one day, any positive balance, next-business-day processing), MFFU Rapid, Tradeify Select Daily (no minimum days between requests), Purdia LFA, Phidias E2L live. Browse the full list at best prop firms with daily payouts.
  • 5 winning days minimum: Apex (5 qualifying days with per-day minimums), Alpha Futures Zero and Advanced (5 winning days of $200+, up to 4 requests per month), Tradeify Select Flex and Growth, Topstep XFA Standard ($150+ per day), TradeDay Fast Pass (5 profitable days per payout, $150–$250 daily minimums by size), Lucid LucidFlex, MFFU Flex sim funded. For under-24h processing, see best prop firms with fast payouts.
  • 3 trading days minimum: Topstep XFA Consistency path (with the 40% target).
  • Every 4 trading days: FundedSeat Flex payout cycles (4 qualifying days with minimum daily profit thresholds per size).
  • 14 calendar days minimum: MFFU Pro sim funded (after first trade).

Payout Caps

  • No payout cap: Take Profit Trader PRO and PRO+, Bulenox after the 3rd payout.
  • No per-request cap, but a daily ceiling: Lucid LucidDaily has no cap on individual payout requests (minimum $500, maximum = sim profit above the buffer) — instead it caps daily sim profit at $6K–$12K by size, and hitting the ceiling force-promotes the account to live. A different mechanism than a payout cap; TPT remains the only fully uncapped structure.
  • $15,000 max per request: Alpha Futures Advanced — industry-leading.
  • $100,000 max per user: MyFundedFutures Pro — highest in industry.
  • Per-request / tiered caps: Apex (payout ladder by account size), Topstep XFA (requests limited to 50% of balance up to the path's cap — $6,000 on the Consistency path), TradeDay Fast Pass ($2,000/$2,500/$3,000 per request by size, max 50% of balance, behind 5 profitable-day gates), FundedSeat Flex (50% of cycle profit, capped $750 / $1,500 / $2,000 / $2,500 by size, $500 minimum), Tradeify Select Flex ($3K / $4K / $5K by size).

Processing Time

Most firms now hit 24–48 hours for approved payouts (Tradeify's published window is 24–48h). Lucid ACH payouts land in minutes. Phidias claims 90% of payouts processed within 30 minutes. FundedNext guarantees 24-hour delivery on Flex with a $1,000 penalty payment to you if they miss.

Activation Fees and Pricing Models

Monthly Subscription Firms

You pay a monthly fee until you pass or cancel. Used by Alpha Futures (Zero and Advanced), Tradeify Growth, Topstep, TradeDay (both routes, with the evergreen 55% DGT discount), and MyFundedFutures.

  • Topstep: monthly fee by account size + $149 activation at funding.
  • Alpha Futures Zero: lowest monthly entry in the Alpha lineup, $0 activation forever.
  • Alpha Futures Advanced: premium monthly pricing for the loosest funded rules in the lineup.

One-Time Fee Firms

You pay once. No monthly billing. Used by Apex Trader Funding (the 4.0 update replaced monthly subscriptions with a one-time evaluation fee and a 30-day evaluation window — no extensions), FundedNext Flex, FundedSeat, Lucid Trading (all four plans), Phidias, Tradeify Lightning, Alpha Futures Direct, and MyFundedFutures Builder and Flex.

  • FundedNext Flex 50K: $71 — among the lowest entry points in the industry.
  • Lucid Trading 50K: LucidPro $130 / LucidFlex $104 / LucidDirect $364.
  • TradeDay: monthly subscriptions across all plans, $0 activation, no resets offered — and an evergreen 55% discount with code DGT.
  • MFFU Builder 50K: two max-loss options at checkout — $2,000 default, or $1,500 at a lower price.

Activation Fees Firm-by-Firm

  • $0 activation ever: Take Profit Trader, MyFundedFutures (all plans), Phidias, Bulenox, Tradeify Select, FundedNext Flex, Lucid (all plans), Alpha Futures Zero and Advanced. Full list: best prop firms with no activation fee.
  • Activation fee at funding: Apex ($99 per Performance Account — not reduced by promo codes), Topstep ($149), Purdia ($130 at LFA onboarding).

Firm-by-Firm Rules Breakdown

Take Profit Trader

Take Profit Trader stands on three rules that make it one of the most trader-friendly futures prop firms in 2026: daily payouts from day one, no consistency rule in the funded PRO account, and no payout cap on withdrawals above the buffer. The Test uses EOD drawdown. The PRO simulated account uses intraday drawdown with an 80% split above buffer. The PRO+ live-market account uses EOD drawdown (a June 2025 update) and pays 90/10 with no buffer at all. Live eligibility kicks in at $10,000 of cumulative PRO profit. You can run up to five PRO or PRO+ accounts in parallel and copy-trade between them. No activation fee, ever. The one rule to respect: specific major news events are restricted on PRO and PRO+.

TradeDay

TradeDay rebuilt its entire product in 2026 into two routes across 50K–150K, on monthly subscriptions with $0 activation, no daily loss limit anywhere, and no scaling plan. Consistency is evaluation-only on both routes — 30% on Quick Pay, 45% on Fast Pass — and breaching it raises your target rather than failing you; once funded, the official rulebook shrinks to two lines: respect the trailing max drawdown and don't trade within 2% of a price limit. Quick Pay (choice of Intraday or EOD drawdown, 5-day eval minimum) is the frictionless funded route: no milestones, no buffer, no consistency — payout-eligible after one day with any positive balance, minimum $250, next-business-day processing. The catch is the split: 50/50 on the first $4,000 of per-account profit, 80/20 above it, 90/10 in Funded Live. Fast Pass (EOD only, no eval minimum days) pays a flat 80/20 in Funded Sim with no buffer and no consistency — but each payout requires 5 profitable days ($150/$200/$250 daily minimums by size) and is capped at 50% of balance up to $2,000/$2,500/$3,000; your 5th payout request auto-promotes you to Funded Live at 90/10 (max 5 live accounts; a live loss triggers a 3-month cooling-off). Two structural rules apply everywhere: Tier-1 news auto-liquidation (±2 minutes) and mandatory flat 10 minutes before close — day trading only, by design. Full plan-by-plan breakdown on the TradeDay review.

Tradeify Select

Tradeify Select uses a single 3-day evaluation with a 40% eval-only consistency rule and EOD trailing drawdown that locks at starting + $100. After passing, you make a permanent choice between two funded paths. Select Flex pays out every 5 winning days with caps of $3K / $4K / $5K, no daily loss limit, and no consistency rule — ideal for swing traders with concentrated profit days. Select Daily unlocks daily payouts with no minimum days between requests (capped by size) but enforces a daily loss limit. Both pay 90/10 from dollar one, and neither has a scaling plan — the official help center confirms full position size from day one on every Tradeify plan. Watch the housekeeping rules instead: no hedging, no holding minis and micros at the same time, at least one trade per week, positions flat by 4:59 PM ET, and the microscalping rule on sim funded accounts (over 50% of your trades AND over 50% of your profit must come from trades held longer than 10 seconds). Payouts process in 24–48 hours. The path to Tradeify Elite Live is the same regardless of choice: 5 payouts qualifies you, and auto-Elite triggers at $80K cumulative payouts.

Apex Trader Funding

Apex Trader Funding rewrote its rulebook on March 1, 2026 with the 4.0 update — and it's a genuinely different firm now. Monthly billing is gone: evaluations are a one-time fee with a hard 30-day window, no extensions. Six legacy rules were removed outright (MAE, 5:1 risk-reward, one-direction, the 7-day minimum among them). There is no consistency rule during the evaluation — you can pass with 100% of the target in a single trade. The 50% consistency rule applies only at Performance Account payout requests (accounts purchased before March 1, 2026 remain on the legacy 30% rule — no conversion path). EOD trailing is the default product, updating at 4:59:59 PM ET, with an Intraday variant at purchase; the Safety Net (drawdown + $100) must be maintained to stay payout-eligible. Each PA pays 100% of approved withdrawals through a 6-payout ladder ($500 minimum, 5 qualifying days per cycle), then closes. The $99 PA activation fee sits on top of the eval price and is not reduced by promo codes. Running multiple PAs in parallel remains the Apex scaling model — browse other firms supporting parallel accounts at best prop firms with multiple accounts. News policy has historically been inconsistent across help-center articles; verify before trading events.

Alpha Futures (Zero / Advanced / Direct)

Alpha Futures reshaped its lineup twice in 2026: the Standard plan was retired May 1 and replaced by Premium — and then Premium itself was discontinued on July 12, 2026, with active Premium accounts refunded automatically, as Alpha and NinjaTrader (including Tradovate and TradingView) parted ways and accounts migrated to AlphaTrader. The current lineup is Zero, Advanced, and Direct, all on EOD trailing drawdown. Zero is the low-cost entry: no consistency rule on the evaluation, $0 activation forever, but the Qualified account keeps a 40% consistency rule and the Daily Loss Guard. Advanced flips the profile: a 40% consistency rule on the evaluation, then the loosest Qualified conditions in the lineup — no consistency, no Daily Loss Guard, no scaling plan, and the industry's highest $15,000 max per performance-fee request. Direct skips the evaluation entirely for a one-time fee and runs a 20% consistency rule on the Qualified account. Zero and Advanced Qualified traders can request performance fees up to 4 times per month after every 5 winning days of $200+. All plans pay 90/10. Note: Alpha Futures currently carries an advisory on our review page — read it before purchasing.

FundedNext Flex

FundedNext Flex launched in 2026 as one of the cheapest one-time-fee entries in the industry — $71 for a 50K challenge with a $2,500 profit target. EOD trailing drawdown, no daily loss limit, no buffer rule, and 40% consistency on the challenge only. The funded FundedNext Account drops the consistency rule entirely. Base split is 80%, with a paid add-on at checkout to bump to 90%. Reset fees are among the lowest available. Performance rewards processed within 24 hours or FundedNext pays you an extra $1,000. Live trading review kicks in after 5 reward cycles.

FundedSeat

FundedSeat runs one firm-wide rule you must know before anything else: every position is force-closed at 4:59 PM EST — no overnight, no weekends, which structurally excludes swing traders. The Flex family (25K–150K, one-time fee) is a 1-Step challenge with a 6% profit target, EOD trailing drawdown, 40% consistency, and no daily loss limit. Funded payouts run on 4-trading-day cycles: 50% of cycle profit, capped at $750 / $1,500 / $2,000 / $2,500 by size, $500 minimum, with 4 qualifying days meeting per-size minimum daily profit thresholds. The newer 1-Step Daily Ultra family adds a checkout toggle that changes consistency, drawdown, and price together: the default 26% consistency option includes a cushion and wider drawdown, while the cheaper 35% option runs tighter drawdown — and Ultra pays 80%, below FundedSeat's usual 90% headline. Ultra also carries a first-payout balance ceiling: exceed it before your first payout and the account is liquidated and locked. Read the fine print on that one twice.

Topstep (Combine + Dual-Path XFA)

Topstep uses EOD trailing drawdown across both the Trading Combine and the Express Funded Account — the MLL only updates at session close, never intraday. The Combine has a 50% consistency target (largest day ≤ 50% of total profit; exceeding it raises your target rather than failing you). The XFA balance starts at $0 and grows from your profits; at activation you choose a payout path. Standard: 5 winning days of $150+, no consistency rule. Consistency: just 3 trading days, but a 40% consistency target — in exchange you can request up to 50% of your account balance, up to $6,000, sooner. Both paths use the same markets, risk rules, and 90/10 split (accounts opened before January 12, 2026 keep 100% on the first $10K). After your first payout, the MLL locks at $0 permanently. Up to 5 active XFAs at once, and Back2Funded offers up to 2 paid reactivations if you lose an XFA before your first payout. No VPN trading allowed.

Lucid Trading

Lucid Trading runs four plans. LucidPro, LucidFlex, and LucidDirect use EOD trailing drawdown; the newest addition, LucidDaily, is built for a different trader entirely (details below). LucidPro ($130 at 50K) has no eval consistency rule and supports a 1-day pass, then enforces 40% consistency in funded (raised from 35% on November 28, 2025) with a scaling DLL set to 60% of your biggest day. LucidFlex ($104 at 50K) requires 2 trading days and 50% eval consistency, then drops the consistency rule entirely in funded with no DLL, no buffer, and 5 winning days minimum for payout. LucidDirect ($364 at 50K) skips the evaluation entirely and runs a 20% funded consistency rule with a $1,200 soft-breach DLL. LucidDaily ($95 at 50K) is the daily-payout play: a 50% eval consistency rule with no minimum days, and a checkout toggle that sets your eval drawdown type (Intraday or EOD) and Daily Loss Limit (on or off) — four price configurations, locked at purchase. The funded account is always intraday trailing (locking at initial + $100 once past the trail balance) with daily payout requests, no consistency rule, and no per-request payout cap — minimum $500, maximum whatever sim profit sits above the buffer. The two rules to respect: daily sim profit is capped ($8,000 on the 50K), and hitting that ceiling promotes you straight to live; and red-folder news in funded is a hard breach — flat from 1 minute before to 1 minute after. All four plans pay 90/10, flatten positions at 4:45 PM ET, and unlock LucidLive (real brokerage account) after 5 payouts. Bots and trade copiers are permitted; hedging is hard-banned, including across accounts. Microscalping flags trigger if more than 50% of profits come from trades held 5 seconds or less. News trading is unrestricted, and ACH payouts land in minutes.

Purdia Capital

Purdia Capital takes the boldest stance in the industry: no consistency rules anywhere. Their homepage states it explicitly. The funding process runs in two stages — Sim Funded Account (SFA), then Live Funded Account (LFA) at a real brokerage with real capital. SFA requires 10 trading days, 5 winning days of $200+ ($125 on 25K accounts), and a transition target. Once on LFA, payouts are daily from day one, the drawdown becomes static at breakeven + $100, and the default daily loss limit is 25% (customizable lower). 90/10 split with a $130 activation fee at LFA onboarding. Account sizes 10K / 25K / 50K / 100K. News trading allowed throughout. See also the instant funding futures firms 2026 overview.

Bulenox

Bulenox runs a Master Account with trader's choice of EOD or trailing drawdown (locking at starting + $100). The 40% consistency rule applies to every payout request. Trailing drawdown amounts: $1,500 (25K), $2,500 (50K), $3,000 (100K), $4,500 (150K), $5,500 (250K). 100% of the first $10,000 in payouts goes to the trader, then 90/10 split. No maximum withdrawal limit after the 3rd payout. News trading, DCA, and autotrading (NinjaTrader Rithmic) are all permitted.

Phidias

Phidias offers three programs — Fundamental, Premium, and Express-to-Live — with consistent rules across all: no consistency rule in evaluation, 30% consistency on CASH (sim funded) only, no consistency on LIVE, no daily loss limit anywhere. EOD or static drawdown. News trading allowed. Express-to-Live has no minimum days and goes straight to LIVE on first payout. Premium scales the split progressively from 75% to 100% across 5 payouts and allows overnight and weekend holds. Base 80/20 split. 90% of payouts process under 30 minutes. Up to 15 funded accounts total.

MyFundedFutures (MFFU)

MyFundedFutures runs a standardized evaluation across Rapid, Flex, and Pro (50% consistency, EOD trailing drawdown, 2-day minimum, $0 activation, T1 news allowed on every eval), then four distinct funded paths. Builder breaks the eval mold: no consistency during evaluation and a 1-day pass is possible.

  • Rapid 50K: sim funded uses intraday trailing drawdown. No funded consistency. T1 news prohibited in sim funded. Required buffer $2,100. Daily payouts after buffer. 90/10 split.
  • Pro (50K / 100K / 150K): EOD funded drawdown, no consistency, no DLL, T1 news prohibited in sim funded. Buffer $2,100 / $3,100 / $4,600 with a 14-day waiting period. $100,000 max payout per user — highest in industry. 80/20 split.
  • Flex 50K: EOD funded drawdown, no consistency, no DLL (optional soft-pause add-on), scaling plan by balance. News allowed. 5 winning days per cycle unlocks payouts, capped $2,000 per cycle, up to 5 sim payouts before live transition. 80/20 split.
  • Builder 50K: the newest plan and the easiest path to live. Two MLL options at checkout ($2,000 default / $1,500 at a lower price). 1-day pass possible, no eval consistency, $1,000 soft-pause DLL on every stage. At payout, a 50% consistency rule applies per cycle (flipped from the other plans), with a $2,000 cap per payout, minimum 2 trading days per cycle, and a buffer of MLL + $100. After the 5th approved sim payout you graduate to a live brokerage account at Blue Row Capital — daily payouts, 80/20, no consistency rule. One Builder account per user.

21-day cooldown after any live account breach. $0 activation firm-wide.

Path to Live Capital

The cleanest 2026 differentiator is which firms actually move you onto real capital — and how. A growing number do, and the model matters.

  • Purdia Capital LFA: real brokerage account on first transition. Daily payouts from day one. Static drawdown at breakeven + $100. The most direct path to real capital in the industry.
  • Phidias LIVE: real broker partner. Uncapped daily payouts. No consistency rule. Express-to-Live moves you to LIVE on first payout — no extended sim period.
  • Tradeify Elite Live: real capital via NinjaTrader and GFF Brokers. Qualify after 5 payouts on any funded plan. Auto-Elite at $80K cumulative payouts.
  • Take Profit Trader PRO+: live-market trading with 90% split. Eligibility: $10K cumulative PRO profit or consistent withdrawals over time.
  • Lucid Trading LucidLive: real brokerage after 5 payouts. Swing trading allowed.
  • MyFundedFutures Builder: five sim payouts graduates you to a live brokerage account at Blue Row Capital with daily payouts and no consistency rule.
  • FundedNext Live Trading Program: review pool entry after 5 reward cycles OR exceptional performance record.
  • Topstep Live Funded Account: real capital after consistent XFA performance. Up to $250K in lifetime live performance bonuses.

How to Choose the Right Firm Based on the Rules

The right firm depends entirely on how you trade. A few common matches:

  • Hold trades through volatility and intraday swings: EOD drawdown is non-negotiable. Top picks: Tradeify Select Flex, TradeDay Quick Pay EOD, FundedNext Flex, Lucid LucidFlex, Topstep XFA. Avoid TPT PRO and MFFU Rapid funded (both intraday). Read more in the drawdown rules guide.
  • Need daily access to profits: Take Profit Trader PRO, Lucid LucidDaily, MFFU Rapid, Tradeify Select Daily, Purdia LFA. Filter: prop firms with daily payouts.
  • Big single-session trader (one event per week): no funded consistency rule is essential. TPT PRO, Tradeify Select Flex, TradeDay (either route), Lucid LucidFlex, FundedNext Flex, Phidias LIVE, MFFU Pro. Filter: prop firms with no consistency rule.
  • News and event trader: Tradeify, FundedNext Flex, Lucid (except LucidDaily funded), Phidias, Bulenox, Purdia. Avoid TradeDay entirely (Tier-1 auto-liquidation), plus TPT PRO and MFFU Rapid/Pro sim funded. Filter: prop firms for news trading.
  • Scalpers: verify microscalping definitions before purchase — every firm defines it differently (Tradeify: majority of trades and profit must come from holds over 10 seconds; Lucid: flags at 50%+ of profit from sub-5-second holds). Filter: prop firms for scalping.
  • Swing traders: overnight holds matter — Phidias Premium allows overnight and weekend holds. FundedSeat force-closes everything at 4:59 PM EST, so cross it off entirely. Filter: prop firms for swing trading.
  • Algo / automated traders: bot policy varies wildly — Lucid permits bots and copiers, Tradeify allows bots you own outright but bans cross-firm copying. Filter: prop firms for algo trading.
  • Copy traders: some firms ban copy trading entirely. Filter: prop firms for copy trading.
  • Want to skip the evaluation entirely: Lucid LucidDirect, Alpha Futures Direct, Tradeify Lightning, Purdia Instant Funded. Filter: prop firms with instant funding.
  • Want real capital fastest: Purdia LFA, Phidias Express-to-Live, TPT PRO+ are the three fastest paths to real brokerage.
  • Maximum scale: Apex Trader Funding (multiple Performance Accounts in parallel) and Bulenox (multiple Master Accounts). Filter: prop firms with multiple accounts.
  • Budget-conscious entry: FundedNext Flex ($71 one-time at 50K), Lucid LucidPro ($130), TradeDay at 55% off with code DGT.

Prop Firm Rules FAQs

What is a consistency rule in a prop firm?

A consistency rule caps the size of your largest single trading day relative to your total profits. If a firm enforces a 40% consistency rule and your best day was $1,000, you need at least $2,500 of total profit before requesting a payout ($1,000 ÷ 0.40 = $2,500). Failing the rule doesn't blow your account — it just pauses payouts until you trade enough smaller winning days to dilute the ratio. Many funded plans in 2026 have removed the consistency rule entirely. See the full list at prop firms with no consistency rule.

What is the difference between EOD and intraday drawdown?

End-of-Day (EOD) drawdown only measures your max loss against your closing balance at session end. Intraday equity dips don't count. Intraday trailing drawdown measures your max loss in real time against your highest equity high-water mark — if you take a $1,500 unrealized profit and give it back, the trailing floor moves up with the peak, and the giveback can breach the account even if you started flat. EOD is structurally more forgiving for most trading styles. See the deeper read at drawdown rules for futures prop firms.

Which prop firm has the easiest rules?

There's no single answer — it depends on your style. For traders who want the fewest funded-stage restrictions, Take Profit Trader PRO (no consistency, no payout cap, daily payouts) and Tradeify Select Flex (no DLL, no consistency, unrestricted news) lead the pack. For speed to funded, Tradeify Growth, TradeDay, and Lucid LucidPro allow same-day evaluation passes — see prop firms with one-day pass. For real capital fastest, Purdia and Phidias Express-to-Live are the most direct paths.

Can you trade news in a prop firm?

It depends on the firm. Tradeify, FundedNext Flex, Lucid Trading (except LucidDaily funded, where red-folder news is a hard breach), Phidias, Purdia, and Bulenox all allow unrestricted news trading. TradeDay sits at the opposite pole: it auto-liquidates all positions 2 minutes before Tier-1 releases on every account type. Take Profit Trader PRO restricts specific major events. MyFundedFutures Rapid and Pro sim funded prohibit T1 news (FOMC, NFP, CPI) — and trading it triggers payout denial. Topstep doesn't publish a hard news ban but the Combine's structure penalizes oversized event days through the 50% consistency target. Full rankings at best prop firms for news trading.

What is a daily loss limit in prop trading?

A daily loss limit (DLL) caps how much you can lose in a single trading session. Most modern DLLs are "soft breach" — hitting the limit flattens positions and locks trading for the rest of the day, but the account survives. A growing number of firms have removed the DLL entirely from funded accounts: Take Profit Trader PRO, Tradeify Select Flex, Alpha Futures Advanced, FundedNext Flex, FundedSeat Flex, Lucid LucidFlex, MFFU Pro and Flex.

What happens if I break a prop firm rule?

Depends on the rule. Breaching the maximum loss limit (drawdown) typically closes the account permanently — you'll need a reset, a new evaluation, or in some cases a Back2Funded reactivation (Topstep). Soft-breach rules like DLLs and consistency requirements never close the account — they pause trading or pause payouts until you come back into compliance. Position-size violations and microscalping flags can result in reviews or account holds. The single rule that ends accounts is the drawdown. See prop firm red flags for warning signs to watch for.

Which prop firms have no consistency rule on the funded account?

Take Profit Trader PRO and PRO+, Tradeify Select Flex and Select Daily, TradeDay Quick Pay, Alpha Futures Advanced Qualified, FundedNext Flex funded, Lucid Trading LucidFlex and LucidDaily funded, Purdia Capital (every stage), Phidias LIVE, Topstep XFA Standard path, and MyFundedFutures Rapid / Flex / Pro sim funded. Full filter at no-consistency-rule prop firms.

Which prop firm has the highest profit split?

Apex Trader Funding pays 100% on approved withdrawals (within a 6-payout ladder per Performance Account, $500 minimum per request). Bulenox and pre-January 2026 Topstep accounts pay 100% on the first $10,000 then 90/10. Phidias Premium scales from 75% to 100% across 5 payouts. Everyone else clusters at 90/10 or 80/20. Browse the full list at best prop firms with 100% profit split.

Do prop firms allow scalping?

Scalping is generally allowed, but most firms ban "microscalping" — and every firm defines it differently. Tradeify's official rule (sim funded accounts only): over 50% of your trades AND over 50% of your profit must come from trades held longer than 10 seconds, or payouts are blocked. Lucid Trading flags accounts if more than 50% of profits come from trades held 5 seconds or less. Apex allows flipping if each trade meets the minimum profit threshold. Check each firm's specific definition in its official help center before relying on scalping — full rankings at best prop firms for scalping.

How often are prop firm rules updated?

Constantly — 2026 has been the busiest year of rule changes in the industry's history. Apex did a full rules overhaul on March 1, 2026 (the 4.0 update: one-time fees, 50% consistency, six legacy rules removed). Alpha Futures retired its Standard plan on May 1, 2026, launched Premium — then discontinued Premium on July 12, 2026 and migrated platforms to AlphaTrader. Topstep added the dual-path XFA on February 5, 2026. Lucid raised LucidPro funded consistency from 35% to 40% on November 28, 2025. TradeDay rebuilt its entire product in mid-2026 into the Quick Pay / Fast Pass structure with evaluation-only consistency.
